We sat down with Thilo Mohan, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Xerox, to learn what the company is all about.

1. What is Xerox?

With sales of $22 billion, XEROX is the world’s leading enterprise for business process and document management. You know us well for our leadership in document technology and services that include printers, multifunction devices, production publishing systems, managed print services and related software. We also offer global services from claims reimbursement and automated toll transaction to customer care centers and HR benefits management. Xerox is dedicated to innovation, service and giving customers the freedom to focus on what matters most: ‘your real business.’

2. Wow that’s amazing! Would you mind telling us about the company culture at Xerox?

The Xerox culture fosters opportunity and growth, and it’s defined by our can-do attitude. Can-do means going the extra mile and always remaining flexible to do whatever it takes to deliver service excellence. It distinguishes the way we approach everything we do. With an open-concept environment, our employees are able to collaborate with one another, get creative, and challenge themselves to simplify how work gets done. Our unique culture is the foundation for serving our clients, valuing our people, growing the business, operating with integrity, and contributing to our communities. It’s how we continue to meet — and exceed — our commitments.

3. You mentioned Xerox is the leading enterprise for business process and document management, with sales of $22 billion. What does a day in the life of a Sales Representative at Xerox look like?

As a sales representative at our Xerox Authorized Agency, you will market the full line of Xerox products and services in a defined territory of current Xerox customers and non-customers alike. This position will be concerned with short term sales activity within an account as well as developing and implementing a longer term strategy to ensure Xerox will retain customer accounts and continue to obtain future business. You will be responsible for achieving sales targets for new business sales and renewals, providing existing account coverage and development of new accounts, developing appropriate strategies (short & long term) to suit business needs and requirements of customers and non-customers and meeting Xerox Canada’s Customer Satisfaction goals by effectively resolving all customer issues.

4. So what does Xerox look for in potential candidates? What is the ‘X-factor’ Xerox looks for in its employees?

The X Factor is the unique characteristic that drives you to succeed. It’s the urge you get to be the best at everything you do, and accomplish any and all goals that are put in front of you. People who work for the Xerox Authorized Agents are not there to take orders…they innovate, they create and they solve problems for their customers every day. Individuals who are energetic, hungry, passionate about sales, results-oriented, self-motivated, competitive, positive-minded, resilient, determined and have excellent communication skills possess the X-Factor we are looking for.

5. Where can a career in sales at Xerox take me?

Sales at Xerox is just the beginning of a rewarding career. With Xerox, you will have the opportunity to choose your own career path. You can specialize in different streams of sales and manage programs, work your way up to people management and lead your own team, become a functional lead and branch out into different aspects of the business and eventually become an organizational lead and manage various channels and operations of the business.

A big thank you to everyone who made it to the event in spite of the snow! Our fantastic keynote speaker from Ten Thousand Coffees, Adam Mitchell, inspired us all. The night rounded off with a Career Fair and over 100 one-on-one speed networking sessions with representatives from Target, PepsiCo, Grip, Xerox, Energizer, LoyaltyOne, and P&G.

Market Yourself 101 was fuelled by Ten Thousand Coffees and McDonald’s Coffee, but driven by YOUR enthusiasm to make this event a success! Check out some photos from the night taken by our very own Shaan Jessa.
